Offshore fishing out of Venice, Louisiana has been very consistent over the past week. Yellowfin tuna are biting well around the floater rigs, especially for anglers fishing live pogies. Nearshore fishing around Venice, Louisiana continues to improve as spring conditions settle in. Tripletail fishing is beginning to pick up around crab trap buoys, floating debris, and nearshore structure. Anglers are starting to find more fish each week, and we expect the tripletail bite to continue improving through the coming weeks.
Cobia are also beginning to show up around rigs, buoys, and nearshore structure. As water temperatures continue to rise, more cobia should move into the area and provide excellent opportunities for anglers fishing close to shore.

As river water gets lower, cleaner water is moving back into the river passes, bays, and marshes, and that means the redfish and speckled trout bite should continue heating up over the next several weeks.
The key right now has been finding clean water and bait. Areas with good water clarity and schools of baitfish are beginning to hold more redfish and trout each day, especially around the river passes and nearby diversions.
Bull redfish are also showing up at the usual spring locations. Anglers have been catching bull reds along the beaches, near Red Pass, and farther downriver where cleaner Gulf water is pushing in.
